the old europe should be reminded that if not for the new world, they will still be wallowing in misery if world wars 1 & 2 were not stopped by the british and americans. true, the french helped in the american revolution with lafayette but thi was repaid twenty times over in both world wars and the ensuing prosperity in europe. and now that the americans and british need the french, german and belgian assistance regarding iraq and saddam, guess what - they balked!! weasels--as the new york newspapers shouted!

this is not aggression like what the huns, hitler, tojo and saddam did. to have peace, we must once in a while, start a war. and chirac to admonish the east european supporters that " sometimes one should know when to stop talking" is way out of line. these east europeans know how it is to have lived and survived under a dictator or oppressive regime. they know saddam must be driven out so that the iraqis will have a better way of governance---freedom from fear and oppression!

if america attacks, it is justified---morally and totally within the legal framework as embodied in the security council resolutions. to the peace activists, i hope you will not have to suffer the same fate that the british and the french did when they trusted hitler with chamberlain's proclamation that "hitler promised" not to attack britain in black and white.
